Most spinal cord injuries can be prevented. PBF develops and delivers award-winning injury prevention programs - PBFPREVENTION - to help reduce the number of new spinal cord injuries occurring each year. All these programs are designed to positively influence attitudes to safety, raise awareness of serious injury and provide the knowledge and skills to help prevent it. Though spinal cord injury is PBF’s main concern, our programs have a broad injury prevention focus. In Australia, around 70% of patients with spinal cord injuries are not eligible for insurance or compensation. Fortunately, the Paraplegic Benefit Fund Australia provides much-needed financial support for members who sustain a spinal cord injury.
