Since 1954 Max Stocks have been providing a truly local food distribution service to handle the needs of North Queenslanders Max Stocks Wholesale Food Service is a 100 per cent locally owned and operated business servicing the food industry and keeping all the benefits with the North Queensland communities. The business was established in 1954 as a small seafood outlet in Cairns to provide a quality food distribution service catering to the needs of Cairns. The business prospered, necessitating the need to incorporate a processing factory which was built in the 1960's. As tourism became the major industry in Cairns and many international hotels and resorts were built, Max Stocks, under the guidance of Ken and Sally Fisher, diversified the product range to include all types of food. By 1999 the expansion of this operation necessitated the next transformation which included the design and subsequent construction of a truly dedicated locally based state of the art food distribution facility including temperature controlled loading and unloading areas, additional main freezer with 400 pallet storage, a chiller facility and a large dry warehouse. Max Stocks' customer base covers areas from Tully to Thursday Island and west to Karumba and includes five star hotels, resorts, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, takeaways and cafes. Max Stocks now stocks processed frozen meats, poultry and vegetables, local and imported seafood, chilled dairy, cheeses, small goods and an extensive range of dry goods including all types of canned food, oils, packaging, sauces and drinks. To maintain our high standards Max Stocks operates within a HACCP quality control system. Our freezers are monitored 24 hours a day and our modern fleet of refrigerated vehicles ensure all products are maintained and delivered at correct temperatures. Our vehicles operate environmentally friendly Eutectic refrigeration units minimizing air & noise pollution. Max Stocks is proud to be a shareholder of National Food Distributors Association (NAFDA), a company established by a group of Australian owned food service distributors. This enables Max Stocks to provide its customers with the best possible prices without sending the revenue overseas.
